Traffic in pune

There are some basic problems which we've to solve as they are relating to welfare of all.Pune's traffic is terrible I'm a puneit and I want to confess that the traffic in pune gets wrost everyday.

I dont think PMC (Pune Muncipal corporation) And R.T.O.(Regional Traffic Office) are totally resposible for this but we the citizens of this great historic city are also reposible.
Let's set aside the issue that what these govermental organisation can do Let's think about what we can do?

Do we've to live like this forever? why we can not stop at a traffic signal for 1 or 2 minutes, when we can wait for 15 to 30 minutes at ticket counter line to see the movie or drama? Can we change this habit which is harmful to us and our loved ones? Yes, it is possible. And I think if we solve this issue which is so simple by joint efforts .I 've a firm belif that is we solve rash driving and rules breaking issues other known known issues also get solved automatically.Come on WE CAN DO IT!!!

Story behind the name "sinhagad"

Before named as "Sinhagad" this Fort was known as" Kondhana Fort", when it was first constructed in the 14th century. While the fort had been of great strategic importance right form the date it was built, it is now best known in Indian history as well as folk lore, for the “Battle of Sinhagad”.

Located high on Sahyadri mountain range, Sinhagad Fort is on the outskirts of the present day city of Pune.

King Shivaji (Shivaji Bhonsale, born April, 1627) was the founder of the great Maratha Empire. He formed an army of the greatest guerilla fighters of his days.

Shivaji's stratergies were admired by,from his enimies to researchers till this date. Shivaji formed an empire by winning over territory from his enemies, who always outnumbered his forces by at least five to one!!!

Fort Kondhana was in “enemy” hands in 1670, and Shivaji’s mother, Jijabai, invited, and then defeated Shivaji in a game of chess, and asked for the fort as “the bet”. She did this, realizing the importance of control of this fort, in his son’s larger game plan.

Shivaji contacted his trusted lieutenant, Tanaji Malusare (Tanaji) for meeting his mother’s demand. Tanaji left his son’s marriage ceremony in March, 1670, and stormed Kandhana with a force of 300 Malwas (local Maratha soldiers), who were pitted against more than 1500 Rajput soldiers, who were led by Raja Udai Bhan, and owed allegiance to Mirza Raja Jai Singh. The audacious attack on the seemingly impregnable fort took place on a moonless night, and Tanaji chose to storm the fort from the side which was most difficult to approach, and hence, least guarded.

The side which Tanaji chose to attack the fort from, presented a sheer rock face of more than 150 metres high, and Tanaji used the services of a pet giant monitor lizard, to haul him along, to climb this sheer cliff, and then drop rope ladders to bring his forces up into the fort.

Tanaji’s forces overcame the stiff resistance presented by the inmates of the fort (leaders of whom were reportedly enjoying a gala party, at the time when Tanaji was climbing the cliffs with help from the pet monitor lizard, called Jashyawanti) at great cost. Tanaji lost his life in the process, but Kondhana was under the control of Shivaji once more. On receipt of information about the fort falling to his forces, and the loss of one of his greatest lieutenant, Shivaji lamented “Gad aala, pan singh gelaa”, meaning, “We have got the fort, but lost the lion”. Since that day, the fort came to be known as Sinhagad (The Lion’s Fort).

Oxford Of the East

"Hi buddy,I got an admition in pune's Goverment engineering college." Kumar send this message to all his friends, he is so happy that he got an admission in an internationally recognised institute which is in the happening city of pune.
Pune for many years recognised as a educational center in India and east. People in India especially from pre indepence period come to pune for better education.
When we studied what is the reason that made pune an educational center we observed that,a high rate of literacy, the presence of a large number of industrial and business centres and an ability to adapt itself to change, are the key factors.
You can see huge population of outside students in the city. Many business in pune are based on requirements of these students. As this city is a safe place to live due to less criminal activities and a decent environment made by citizens students in India and other foreign students prefer pune for their further studies.
Increasing list of internationally recognised universities like pune university, symboisis deemed university, bharti deemed university and other educational institues made a contribution in attracting a huge students crowd.Students fell proud when they get admition in these Institutions.
There has been an amazing proliferation of educational institutes across the district that offer courses not just in technology but also management, Information Technology, architecture, medicine, languages, insurance, banking, media, law, film-making and education.
Deepak Shikarpur, chairman of the IT Sub-Committee of MCCIA, said: "Pune has one of the largest pools of low-cost English-speaking scientific and technical talent and BPO has been the latest mantra. The entry of players such as Tata, Godrej, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and British Airways is an indicator of Pune's top position in the list of outsourcing countries."
As Atul Kirloskar, president of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), puts it in a note written for the Directory of Information Technology Industry, "there have been good investments coming into the city's IT sector and software exports have jumped by over Rs.1,000 crores to a level approximating Rs.3,100 crores and above. The city has been a forerunner in the IT sector, having set up one of the first Software Technology Parks in India. Pune also offers a comprehensive pool of expertise in diverse areas". These are some comments made by well know personalities.
Beside these comments it is observed that some crticism is also made that because of this the costant increasing number of educational institutions standard of education is not maintained in some of the institutions.
There are many cases where in some well known instituions also students got admissions by paying a huge amount of money under the name of donation to that institution case they didn't get suffient marks in the previous examination. This is really sad but in all such educational hubs these things happens.Students must also aware of personals which promise them to do their admissions in well known instituions.
If we observe over all situation pune still gets good marks as an educational center and can be call a true "Oxford of the East".

Pune - The IT hub

Pune is today fast emerging as an InfoTech hub. In many sense it has become a IT hub.People from all over India and world are taking interest in development of IT companies in Pune.

"Only IT and BPO professionals need apply" from this signboard we can understand what is a reputaion of a IT professional in pune? Pune is a IT boomtown. After Bangalor many IT profeesionals in India preffered pune .

Huge hoardings offer with everything from jacuzzis to landscaped gardens. "If you are working at IT park, you shouldn't be living anywhere else," screams one hoarding.

Ascendas, one of Asia’s largest developers of business properties,it's joint venture will be with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for the Business Park in Pune.
It takes 5 to 6 years for this project .

Hinjewadi's around 500-acre Rajeev Gandhi Technology Park is already home to scores of IT, IT-enabled services and business process outsourcing units. And hordes of others are on the way. From new companies to existing ones, which are expanding, they are all heading to Pune and its outskirts.

Lifestyle in pune is also changing due to this emerging IT factor.Mc Donald,CCD(Cafe Coffee Day),Barrista,KFC and many other international brands not only joined in this developement but also tring to show their presence by expanding their branches in the city.

Many reputed companies like Infosys,TCS,Tech Mahindra, persistence and many other reputed IT companies are in the town and many other international brands are planning to come ,There is a huge demand of IT profeesionals in pune and companies are ready to pay any amount for a experienced IT proffessional. Here 2 or 3 year experience is sufficient for salary of Rs. 4 to 5 lacks per annum. Many graduates from any branch of education having a good knowledge of software can get salary around Rs. 2.5 to 3 laks per annum.

Many critics who are not happy with the changing culture of pune from a sober small town to a fast, crowded city. These critics says that culture of pune is changed so drastically that real citizen of pune called puneri are hard to find now.The culture of pune for which the city was recognised got changed totally. Many people thinks that, and which is true also that this change is beacause of pubs, multiplexes, big malls ect. are came into town and they made people to pay for unnecessary facilties.People from IT and BPO are having excess money and majority of them can pay the money which is required for these unnecessary things.Developement is essential for rasing standards of people but there must be checks of unnecessary expences. In recent report from a reputed news agency shows that there is consuption of beer and other liquor is in laks of liters.

But we can not blame on IT sector only many other factors are also to be considered. In the huge development of Indian economy IT sector played a significant role. And this fact has to be considered. In IT world pune rocks.

Pune: Geographical information

Pune has three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon and winter. Typically hot summer weather runs from March to May, with maximum temperatures ranging from 35 to 42°C. Unlike most of the Deccan Plateau where May is the warmest month, the warmest month in Pune is April. The city often receives local and heavy thundershowers with sharp downpours in May, which cools the temperatures. Nevertheless, the nights in Pune are significantly cooler than most other parts in this region owing to its high altitude. ( does this make it better? Is this more pleasant? What does this mean for the tourist?)

Pune district is located between 17.5° to 19.2° North and 73.2° to 75.1° East. The district is bounded on North & East by Ahmednagar district, by Satara district on the South and by Raigad district on the West.

In Pune district, there are two municipal corporations, namely Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchawad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Pune district covers 14 talukas & 13 Panchayat Samitis. There are around 1,866 villages in the district. Total road length of Pune district is 13,642 kms. Average rainfall in the district is 600 to 700 mms.

Pimpri Chinchwad is located at the West of Pune city, touching the Pune- Mumbai National highway. The corporation covers the area of Akurdi, Pimpri, Chinchwad and Bhosari. The said area is developed by MIDC as an industrial zone.
