Oxford Of the East

"Hi buddy,I got an admition in pune's Goverment engineering college." Kumar send this message to all his friends, he is so happy that he got an admission in an internationally recognised institute which is in the happening city of pune.
Pune for many years recognised as a educational center in India and east. People in India especially from pre indepence period come to pune for better education.
When we studied what is the reason that made pune an educational center we observed that,a high rate of literacy, the presence of a large number of industrial and business centres and an ability to adapt itself to change, are the key factors.
You can see huge population of outside students in the city. Many business in pune are based on requirements of these students. As this city is a safe place to live due to less criminal activities and a decent environment made by citizens students in India and other foreign students prefer pune for their further studies.
Increasing list of internationally recognised universities like pune university, symboisis deemed university, bharti deemed university and other educational institues made a contribution in attracting a huge students crowd.Students fell proud when they get admition in these Institutions.
There has been an amazing proliferation of educational institutes across the district that offer courses not just in technology but also management, Information Technology, architecture, medicine, languages, insurance, banking, media, law, film-making and education.
Deepak Shikarpur, chairman of the IT Sub-Committee of MCCIA, said: "Pune has one of the largest pools of low-cost English-speaking scientific and technical talent and BPO has been the latest mantra. The entry of players such as Tata, Godrej, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and British Airways is an indicator of Pune's top position in the list of outsourcing countries."
As Atul Kirloskar, president of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), puts it in a note written for the Directory of Information Technology Industry, "there have been good investments coming into the city's IT sector and software exports have jumped by over Rs.1,000 crores to a level approximating Rs.3,100 crores and above. The city has been a forerunner in the IT sector, having set up one of the first Software Technology Parks in India. Pune also offers a comprehensive pool of expertise in diverse areas". These are some comments made by well know personalities.
Beside these comments it is observed that some crticism is also made that because of this the costant increasing number of educational institutions standard of education is not maintained in some of the institutions.
There are many cases where in some well known instituions also students got admissions by paying a huge amount of money under the name of donation to that institution case they didn't get suffient marks in the previous examination. This is really sad but in all such educational hubs these things happens.Students must also aware of personals which promise them to do their admissions in well known instituions.
If we observe over all situation pune still gets good marks as an educational center and can be call a true "Oxford of the East".
